Olympic Closing Ceremony

Today was the last day of our Olympic unit.  All events were turned in by the end of the day Wednesday (no late work accepted!!), and the last two nights were full of much grading, organizing, and preparing for our ceremony today.  Medals were awarded based on the number of points each student earned.  500 = Bronze, 750 = Silver, and 1000 = Gold.  Certificates were given for amounts less than 500.  We had a final medal count of 13 Gold, 1 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals, and 2 Certificates.  Great work, 4th graders!!  🙂

For our Closing Ceremony, we read each child’s name, the number of points they earned, and handed out the appropriate prize.  Then each student got to stand on our “podium” and have their picture taken with their award and the American flag.  Michael Phelps, eat your heart out!  🙂  Once the medals were all handed out, we enjoyed an amazing Olympic treat (courtesy of Pinterest and a wonderfully creative room mom!), and received a packet of all the events that were turned in to take home, all graded and scored for the competition.

And now, a few pictures from our day:

Medals all ready for the ceremony to start!!

Our highest point winner!  (Check out that podium!  Good stuff.)

Group photo.  It took quite a few takes to get a good one…but they look great, don’t they?  🙂

Check out the awesome cookie!  Such a great treat for our last day.  (And we had some leftover torch treat ingredients to munch on as well.)
