Today for kindergarten book buddies, we talked about people who have disabilities. We read a book illustrated by Joni Eareckson Tada, called the Great Alphabet Fight. She illustrated the book (and does some REALLY cool artwork) using her mouth to hold her art tool. She was paralyzed from the neck down as a teenager when she dove into water and hit her head on a rock. What an exciting witness she is of how we can trust in God to get us through tough times, which is how she was able to make it through her ordeal as well.
To see what it would be like to only be able to do art using your mouth, our 4th graders and kindergarteners painted pictures today…holding their paintbrush in their mouth. When asked if they would like to do art this way all the time, we were met with a resounding, “NO!” from the students. A great reminder of how blessed we are.
