December is such a crazy month, with preparations for Christmas concerts and programs, adjusted schedules, and weekend commitments. It’s nice once the dust settles to look back at all the fun we had around Christmas time in our school. 🙂
We did everything from sharing candy canes with cars in the parking lot to Christmas programs full of angels and shepherds, Christmas parties to art projects. Below are some pictures to show what we’ve been up to at Christmas time in 4R!
I’ll leave you with one last picture from my Christmas celebration with my family. Merry Christmas to you, and God’s blessings as we start a New Year!!
Last Thursday night was the annual 4th Grade Recorder Concert. It is truly one of my favorite events to attend each year, as the students have been practicing so hard all quarter to learn their instrument, and they always do such a great job!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see what comes from these musicians as they move on to Beginning Band next quarter!!
This past Friday night was the annual Pops Concert. Our theme this year was “Central Goes Disney.” The kids loved the Disney theme, and had a lot of fun preparing and performing the concert. Here are some videos of the choir portions of the concert. (The bands and handchimes also did fabulously!!)
Last Thursday night was the annual 4th grade recorder concert. It is one of my favorite events, because the kids are so excited and so proud of themselves for all of the hard work they put in learning the recorder in music class this quarter!!
Once again, they sounded great. If you don’t believe me, take a listen to the video clips from Thursday night’s concert. Enjoy!
Last night was our Spring Pops Concert! It went so well, and all of the groups performed wonderfully! I wanted to share a few of the pieces from last night. (They are only choir pieces, because my memory card wasn’t empty enough to include all of the groups, unfortunately.) Enjoy these snippets from our concert, and keep always in your prayers all of God’s children around the world! 🙂

This past week we wrapped up our study of the Chinese New Year. This year was the Year of the Horse. Throughout our study, we read some Chinese stories, explored tangrams, learn to count to 10 in Chinese, talked about Chinese inventions, ate with chopsticks, and concluded with a lantern parade through the school. We enjoyed our lessons and learned many new things about China and the Chinese New Year.
Enjoy some pictures from our unit. At the end of this post is a video of a Chinese Fan Dance that 4R learned in music class during our unit. I think they did a lovely job!
Last night was the annual 4th Grade Recorder Concert. It is honestly one of my favorite events of the school year. These kids spend the entire first quarter learning to play an instrument, and then get the experience of playing in front of their friends and family in a concert setting! If that’s not setting you up for things later in life, I don’t know what is! 🙂
Here are some pictures and video from last night. Enjoy the show!
This past Friday was our annual Pops Concert. This year, the theme was “Jukebox Hits”. Dress, decorations, and music all went with the theme of 50/60s jukebox hits. It was so fun to see all the poodle skirts, jeans, and smiles ready to show off all the hard work we’ve been putting into this concert over the past weeks.
I have some videos of the choir pieces done at this year’s concert. Enjoy these great jukebox hits: Stand By Me, I’m a Believer, and a rockin’ medley of Rock Around the Clock, Rockin’ Robin, Jailhouse Rock, and Shake, Rattle, and Roll. 🙂
Tonight was our 4th grade recorder concert. The kids got to show off the different skills they’ve learned this quarter. It is always one of my favorite activities of the year.
Enjoy the Olympic Theme! (Thanks to Tobey’s mom for the video!!)
