Hut…Hut…Hike! Division Football Review!

Today we spent our morning reviewing for our Math test tomorrow, on long division.

This was our game “arena”:

We divided into two teams:

Each team started in an end zone.  They were each armed with a white board and dry erase marker.  They were given different types of review problems on the board, each with varying time limits to complete the problem.  For each problem they got correct, they go to move forward a yard line.  Once they reached the other end zone, they scored a point for their team.  Then they turned around and worked their way back towards the other end zone, and could earn another point if they made it there.

At the end, the score was almost tied.  It was a lot of fun, and we are ready for our Math test tomorrow!!

It’s Electric!

Last week, we began our study of electricity, circuits, heat, and other related items.  Our first activity for the chapter was an introduction to circuits.  Using just wire, a battery, and a small lightbulb, students in 4R discovered what it takes for electricity to flow.

They weren’t really given any direction, except “Make the bulb light”…this proved frustrating, but also helped them to work hard to try and discover on their own!

Here are some pictures of our investigation:

Electric currents were never so fun!  Good times in 4R.
